Step by Step
Quick Start
Four steps to get you into the server and on your feet.
Get The Isle
Purchase The Isle on Steam. Make sure you are running the Evrima branch — not the legacy branch. Check the Steam store page for the latest version.
Join Our Discord
All server info, rules, events, and community discussion live in our Discord. Join using the invite link and read the #welcome and #rules channels before anything else.
Find the Server
In The Isle, open the server browser and search for "Primeval Dominion". The server password is posted in the #server-info channel on Discord.
Pick Your Dinosaur
New players should start with a herbivore — they are more forgiving and easier to learn the map with. Stegosaurus or Triceratops are solid first choices.
Stay Alive
Survival Basics
The Isle Evrima is unforgiving. These fundamentals will keep you alive long enough to learn the rest.
Water is Everything
Dehydration kills faster than most predators. Learn the water sources on the map before you do anything else. Rivers and lakes are your lifeline.
Stay in Cover
The jungle is your friend. Move through dense vegetation whenever possible. Open ground is where you die. Predators watch clearings.
Find a Herd or Pack
Solo play is hard. Find other players of your species early. Numbers mean safety for herbivores and more successful hunts for carnivores.
Respect the Night
Visibility drops dramatically after dark. Unless you know the map well, find a safe resting spot before nightfall. Predators are more active at night.
Learn the Map
Spend your first few lives just exploring. Knowing where water, food, and safe zones are is more valuable than any combat skill.
Grow Fast
A juvenile is the most vulnerable stage. Eat constantly, stay hidden, and prioritize growth over exploration until you reach sub-adult.
Know Your Species
Dinosaur Roster
A quick overview of the playable species on our server and their recommended experience level.
Stegosaurus
BeginnerHerbivoreHeavily armored and slow-moving. The iconic spiked tail makes it a credible threat to even large predators. Forgiving for new players who want to learn the map without constant pressure.
Triceratops
BeginnerHerbivoreTough, powerful, and herd-oriented. The horns and frill make it a formidable defender. Excellent for learning group play and holding ground against predators.
Pachycephalosaurus
IntermediateHerbivoreSmall and fast with a devastating headbutt. Survival depends on speed and awareness. Rewarding to play but punishing if caught in the open.
Tenontosaurus
BeginnerHerbivoreLarge and resilient. Slow but hard to kill. Good for players who want a relaxed, low-pressure experience while learning the map.
Carnotaurus
IntermediateCarnivoreFast ambush predator. Relies on speed and surprise. Not built for prolonged fights — hit hard and disengage.
Herrerasaurus
BeginnerCarnivoreAgile and quick to grow. A great entry point for players wanting to try carnivore play. Fast enough to escape most threats and capable of hunting smaller prey solo.
Ceratosaurus
IntermediateCarnivoreVersatile mid-tier predator. Capable of hunting alone or in small groups. A solid all-rounder for players stepping up from beginner carnivores.
Tyrannosaurus Rex
AdvancedCarnivoreThe apex predator. Slow to grow, high-value target, and demands deep map knowledge. Not recommended for new players — the growth grind is brutal.
